Behind the Scenes : Editorial
From Alexander McQueen to Rick Owens, Christian Dior and Tim Burton - There is something to be said for darkness in fashion. It naturally evokes so many emotions- whether it be, fear, pain, passion, or love-lost. It can be hard, edgy and riddled with attitude, or it can be sensual and soft.
Darkness holds such power in our lives, and fashion embraces that power and uses it to create a story of emotions all in a matter of one collection of garments. Isaiah Whitmore (Hair Stylist and Designer- Extraordinaire) demonstrates his knowledge of these stories in his label 'House of Isaac Andrew'.

Isaiah's genius is beyond compare. He has a way of blending edgy, bad-ass styles with femininity & grace. The piercing silhouettes of each piece, sticking in your mind, and forcing your brain to envision another world all its own. Almost as if you've been transported to a future somewhere in the growth and re-build post-apocalypse.
On February 23rd, 2014 - Isaiah set forth on a mission to transfer the ideas from his head into a stunning editorial. He carefully selected a team of amazingly talented individuals which I was so grateful and honored to be a part of.

Taylour, our absolutely fabulous Makeup Artist- helped to set the tone for the day, with a personality that could only be compared to that energized feeling of stepping out into the warm sunshine. She is so sweet, and so prepared. She came, ready to make magic with her list of all of the perfect shades of shadows, lipsticks and more. She took her time, and even with some downtime to chat, she still stayed ahead of the schedule! She is definitely someone that I would recommend for any event, she is so great and an asset to any team!
Swapping into the hair chair is just as fun! Isaiah, who attends school at GMAI (Gary Manuel Aveda Institute) has so much skill in all aspects of this industry. Aside from his amazing designs, he has such a talent when it comes to hair. He moves with a passion- perfecting every strand to create this grandiose vision. He knows what he wants, and one would think that maybe he has some special power to literally pull the image from his mind and place it right in front of your eyes. Hillary, (who also attends GMAI) was assisting- and she moves and works with the same passion that Isaiah does (its no wonder he would have her assisting him in such an amazing production.) I cease to be amazed by the sheer quality and level of 'awesome' he produces so consistently. His Aesthetic is so on point- I cant imagine handing over full trust with my hair to anyone else.

Once Hair & MU was done, and we got changed, the whole mood gravitated towards what the final product would be. Needless to say, the excitement felt by everyone on the team was definitely radiating.
Dorian & Jay have a sort of calm that makes working with them a complete pleasure. Everyone was relaxed- and everything ran so smooth as the two swapped photos for video, for photos and so on; Maneuvering lights and angles (and even furniture) with precision. They work quickly. Straight and to the point, creating an atmosphere where you feel so at ease, and the movements just flow. I cannot explain just how wonderful of a team they make, but I'll give it a shot: 'They. Know. Their. Stuff.'

Michelle, of course, is always amazing to be around, whether we're working or just hanging out. She has such a fun, witty personality that makes her a favorite of just about everyone that works with her. Modeling comes to her with ease- the posing, the movement, the emotion. She is fabulous, and makes any work time easy and fun!
